Special Critical Needs Grant Award Ceremony on July 15th

Critical community needs are being addressed because of the involvement of several hundred volunteers. The process has been amazing. Over $50,000 has been raised. There will be a special Grant Ceremony & Celebration on July 15th from 5:30-7pm in the Steele Garden/Gubleman Room at the San Juan Community Theatre. Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is Welcome.

Critical Needs Task Force to Award Grants to Alleviate the Effects of Economic Hard Times

The impact of the economic downturn has affected many lives in the San Juans. Lost jobs, closed businesses and mortgage foreclosures have sent many of our working and retired citizens into a tailspin. Use of community support services has dramatically increased. Organizations such as the Food Bank, Family Resource Center and Senior Services are faced with an ever growing list of clients. Through the diligent work of over 300 local volunteers working under the structure of the Critical Needs Task Force, many of those needs will now be met. (click on title to read more)

Community Foundation’s Critical Needs Task Force Tackles Community Hot Spots

What began with an idea from the San Juan Island Community Foundation to actively address the local impact of the global economic downturn on the island community has blossomed into the formation of community-wide conversations among dozens of people, each of whom pivot around a particular area of interest but may have never thought to connect with someone else doing similar work. The San Juan Island Community Foundation has a simple mission: to ensure and enhance the quality of life on San Juan Island.

Each year, contributions from generous donors are used to provide grants supporting the arts, youth and education, the environment, and health and human services of our island community.

The Foundation offers donors, both large and small, the opportunity to make a difference in the overall health of our community.
